Introducing the delightful BOSS, now seeking his furever home.
Meet Boss, the clumsiest Am. Staffy X you’ll ever meet. He is a cheeky boy who loves all people and dogs that he sees. Boss identifies as an FBI Agent. You’ll never have to wonder where he is, you can hear him sniffing around from any distance, his curious little nose never stops.
Besides his super Staffy smiley face, he possibly has some Sharpei genes with all the adorable wrinkles and folds of skin. We suspect there is also some goldfish in his family tree, as his attention span can be rather short and gets distracted easily with his nonstop curiousity.
Nevertheless, he learns fast and keeps showing off his new knowledge in the hope of extra cuddles. He prioritises those even above food, he loves his people and attention even more than his stomach.
Sadly, Boss was found as a stray last year and spent over 200 days at the pound waiting to be rescued. He doesn’t seem to have had the best start to life so his new forever home will need to be very patient while he adjusts to his new surroundings and change of routine but once settled in, he will be a loyal and loveable part of the family.
He has come a long way since we rescued him, but still requires training to learn basic obedience skills and improve his manners. Despite his 6 years of age, Boss looks and acts like a puppy, with lots of energy, curiosity and mischief. The tough life didn’t dim his loving energy, quite the opposite. He can be difficult to discipline at times as he LOVES absolutely everything.
Boss adores the attention even if being told off, or sent to the backyard for a timeout – in his view it’s awesome adventure time! He doesn’t mind being left for some alone time in the backyard while you’re out running errands. Just ensure treasured items are put away because he likes to chew things or run around and can sometimes knock things over. When bored he can be a little destructive if not adequately stimulated. Therefore, Boss would be best placed in a home with another dog, so they can play with each other, which keeps him out of mischief.
He is very friendly, even overly boisterous, and excited when he meets new people and dogs. He adores his people and head massages is what he craves before a nice snooze.
Our cheeky man is on a specialised diet (Hills Biome Canine Dry food for breakfast and dinner) for his gut health, other foods make him unwell. He is not food aggressive, and he doesn’t resource guard.
Despite his intimidating look, Boss does not bark, and he is the friendliest dog you’ll meet. Boss is a fan of car rides, but he doesn’t like the act of getting into the car (although if you squeeze his squeaky yellow ball in the car, he flies right in to get it). He will eventually put himself to sleep in the back seat once he’s finished enjoying the view.
As a valued and loved member of his future family, Boss wants nothing more than to be allowed inside when his family is home (have access inside and out as he pleases) and to sleep inside at night. Currently, he sleeps in his dog bed and if he is tired, bored, or sulking because you aren’t sharing food or giving affections, he will often put himself to bed or walk around.
Boss is a gangly ball of joy but sometimes forgets his size so is best suited to a home with no small children until he outgrows this phase. With time, training and patience, Boss will be a great family dog however at present is best suited to an adult home with people that have time and energy to dedicate themselves to his training and education.
